NHS Dentist: Treatments & Costs
Our aim is always to put our patients and their best interests first, whilst providing excellent, pain-free, friendly and personalised NHS dental care at our Inverurie Dental Practice.
At Inverurie Smile Care we pride ourselves on providing affordable, quality NHS dental care for our patients. We are committed to the NHS because we believe dental care should be available for everyone. However, we are not your usual NHS dental practice. We provide care of the highest possible quality and our dentists will go that extra mile to make you comfortable and relaxed. Our patients are at the heart of everything we do.
The NHS fee guide within Scotland is set by the Scottish Government. NHS dental examinations are free for all patients but other treatments will incur a charge. You may pay for your treatment either by cash, cheque or debit/credit card. We accept all cards except American Express.
You can receive free treatment if you are:
- Under 18 years of age.
- Aged 18 years and in full time education.
- Pregnant or had a baby in the last 12 months.
- Named on a valid NHS tax certificate.
- Receiving Income support or Income related Employment Support Allowance.
- Income based job seekers allowance
- Pension credit guaranteed credit.
- Named on a valid HC2 certificate.
If you are not entitled to free NHS dental treatment you are required to pay 80% of the cost of your NHS dental treatment, up to the maximum of £384 per course of the treatment. Examples of costs for some standard NHS treatments are shown in the table below. Please note that NHS fee structure is extensive and varies considerably from patient to patient depending on the treatment required. A detailed estimate will be given to you for your treatment plan at your examination.

Cosmetic treatments e.g. tooth whitening, composite white fillings on molar teeth or a tooth coloured crown on a molar tooth, are not covered by the NHS and are charged privately. We will be happy to provide you with an estimate for cosmetic treatments. Contact us today.
